20 January 20 HKTDC
Experts to share latest insights and trends at press conference
20 January 2020 – The 30th HKTDC Education & Careers Expo will be hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) from 6 to 9 February at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). The four-day fair will attract 880 educational institutions, public and commercial organisations and professional associations, representing more than 20 countries and regions, which will offer the latest information on education and career prospects. Entry to the event is free and all members of the public are welcome to join.
The expo offers designated zones under two themes, Education and Careers, giving the public easy access to information related to further education and opportunities in the workplace. The Education zone connects visitors to openings offered by universities, higher education institutions and vocational education organisations.
To cater for the interests of local students looking to study overseas, seminars will provide more information on opportunities in the United States, France, Japan and Mainland China, covering the education systems, characteristics and different study environments. Visitors can also meet with representatives from various consulates and official bodies at the International Exchange Village and get first-hand information on further studies or career opportunities around the world. Countries and regions participating in the village include Argentina, Austria, Canada, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Russia and the United States.
Career theme days showcasing a range of opportunities return to the expo in 2020. In addition to the Culinary Day and Electrical & Mechanical Day which were well-received in previous years, new themes include Future Tech Talent Day and Aviation Day.
Launched last year, the Recruitment Square is being expanded in scale to embrace various recruitment platforms with commercial organisations to handle on-site job applications. For some employers, job interviews will be conducted on the spot, while various government departments and public organisations will also receive applications at the event. It is expected that over 2,600 job openings will be offered. In addition, more than 90 seminars will take place during the expo, with internet luminaries and radio and broadcast co-hosts sharing their personal experiences in studies and career development with visitors.
The HKTDC is holding a press conference on 21 January (tomorrow) to introduce highlights of this year’s Education & Careers Expo. Speakers will present the latest information on creative education, pre-employment and on-the-job training, demand for talents and the prospects in both current and emerging industries.
