Business of IP Asia Forum opens next Thursday

The ninth edition of the Business of IP Asia Forum (BIP Asia Forum) – organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Design Centre – will be held on 5 and 6 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Under the theme “IP: Building an Innovative and Inclusive Future for Businesses”, this year’s BIP Asia features more than 70 prominent speakers. The plenary session on the first day, titled “Future-proof your IP Strategies: Promoting Partnerships and Sustainable Growth”, focuses on intellectual property (IP)-related topics, inviting industry leaders from multinational corporations to share how IP strategies can help companies to become future-ready and drive business development. On the second day, the Global Tech Summit, under the theme “Next Disruptions”, addresses the latest technology trends and examines what the next big disruptive innovations will be. Co-organised with the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR, the “IP Manager Training Programme” will provide a solid basic understanding of IP management along with a broad range of training content for participants. Introduced last year to great acclaim, the second edition of the open innovation competition “IPHatch Hong Kong” returns under the theme “Jumpstarting Your Business”. The competition offers 10 IP portfolios from Panasonic Corporation and Nokia, encouraging start-ups to compete for valuable IPs, supporting the creativity of SMEs and helping to boost their competitiveness. Representatives from last year’s winning start-ups, including Daniel Chun, Founder & CEO, AIRXED Technology Limited; Charles Lo, Founder, MAE Limited and Mok Wai-pong, Chief Technology Officer, Imagixe Limited, will share the experience they gained through taking part in the competition.
