Electronics Fair and electronicAsia open this Sunday
9 October 19 HKTDC
The HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and electronicAsia – jointly organised by the HKTDC and MMI Asia Pte Ltd – will run concurrently from 13 to 16 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Together the fairs will welcome around 4,300 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions to form the world’s biggest electronics marketplace, showcasing a wide variety of innovative electronic products and components.
The Electronics Fair and electronicAsia have long provided a quality platform for global start-ups to showcase innovative ideas. In addition to the Startup zone in the Tech Hall, which will feature some 120 start-ups from eight countries and regions, there will be a series of events dedicated to start-ups including Smart Launch, Meet the Mentors and Investment Matchmaking. Buyers Forums, the Product Demo & Launch Pad sessions and a Joint Networking Reception will also help industries expand their business networks and capture new opportunities.

13 October (Sunday)
Blockchain in Industrial IoT – the Next Big Thing?: Experts and representatives from technology corporations will discuss blockchain applications in areas such as smart city development, real estate development and building management.
Media Pitch Day: Start-ups will present their innovations to overseas media judges to help them take the leap into international markets.
e·Tech & i·future Robotic Performance: Sophisticated robots will present various kinds of performances for fair visitors.
14 October (Monday)
Symposium on Innovation & Technology: Under the theme “Intelligent Connectivity: 5G and Beyond”, speakers from several major technology companies − including ASTRI, China Mobile Hong Kong, Google, HKT, imec, KeySight Technologies, Nokia, NVIDIA and PwC − will examine the latest developments and applications of 5G technology. Nicholas Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will give the opening remarks at the symposium.
Makers’ Clinic: A session featuring tips from manufacturers. Speakers from the Koochang Institute of Entrepreneurship, which is partly owned by Xiaomi, and a technology service platform owned by Shenzhen-based Foxconn Technology Group will share their experiences on manufacturing and product development.
Female Entrepreneurship – Overcoming Difficulties: Four outstanding female entrepreneurs will share insights on overcoming difficulties in business development.
Winning Ways to Enter Emerging Markets: E-Commerce Platform Potential & Challenges: Speakers will shed light on recent developments in credit risk in emerging markets as well as market opportunities in India and Africa. XiaoMi’s international marketing strategies will also be discussed.
Meet the Champions: Award-winning start-ups from around the world will share their experiences and present innovations that led to award-winning products.
15 October (Tuesday)
Hong Kong Electronic Forum – Micro-electronics (microLed) and Advanced Manufacturing: The forum will feature representatives from German robotic programming manufacturer Wandelbots GmbH, Hong Kong semiconductor specialist Solomon Systech (International) Limited, and LED monitor producer Deepsky to discuss topics such as microelectronics and smart manufacturing.
Testing, Certification and Inspection Services for Electronic Products: Speakers include representatives from the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) of the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR and Intertek Hong Kong who will share cases on security challenges relating to the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart devices.
Product Presentation by Electronic Industries Award 2019 Winners: Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association and the HKTDC, the award winners − selected from close to 100 companies − will highlight the features of their winning products, helping to promote Hong Kong’s innovative technologies and creative designs to international buyers.
Value Creation for Technology − Pitching Competition 4.0 Autumn Edition: The competition aims at selecting innovative projects that create commercial value through the adoption of technology and match them to investment funds. Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR, and Gordon Lo, Director General of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, have been invited as officiating guests.
